Sooooo, the kitchen cabinets are up at The Beast and look oh-so-good!
Dave did an amazing job installing them. They were special order
cabinets so it took them awhile to get here but it was definitely worth
the wait! They were delivered yesterday and we got them all installed
TODAY, which was a surprise. It's nice when that happens! If only
everything worked that way...
Here's some "before" and "after" pics of the kitchen...it's definitely
come a crazy long way from that awful, tiny, pink-trimmed, paneled,
disgusting, old mess of a kitchen that it was...

Eeeekk! |
|
Yuck! |
|
Yeahhhh! |

Plaster walls = insane mess to clean up |
|
Layers upon layers of walls |
|
Little by little we knocked it out... |
|
...and created 1 space from 3 separate rooms |
Pretty nasty, huh? 15 years of vacant house gross-ness...now on to the PRESENT!
|
Time to put the cabinet puzzle together! |
|
Walls prepped for cabinets |
|
Voila! Now ready for backsplash and granite |
|
I'm in love with the fridge casing! I will have one of these one day! |
|
Time to clean up! I'll take this heap over the plaster wall nightmare! |
Pocahontas should be closing in the next 2 weeks. Turns out, we had to
provide a repair expense report to the buyer's bank, basically
justifying the jump between our purchase price ($52k) and our selling
price ($90k). Frustrating to say the least! All we are waiting on now
is the appraisal and closing should come soon after...
Deerwood should close in the next few days. Still trying to line up a
contractor for that one and figure out how to tackle the mold issue.
We'd like to have a few weeks "off" while Demouy is on the market since
we haven't had a break in months but it's looking like we may have to do
some of the work on Deerwood as well...unless we can get our
contractors to give us a great price. Let's hope it's the latter ;)
PS - We accepted the bank's counter-offer on the precious little house
built in the 50's I told you about. The deal fell through at the last
minute but we are still on the warpath to buying a home for us...So it's
"to-be-continued" for now :)
The kitchen looks magnificent...and if you can't take some vacation time, then drink a glass of champagne in the completed kitchen and toast the beauty you guys made it into!
